Local Food Builders

Hi there! It’s me, Adam. Here is a photo of me harvesting mushrooms back when I was a gourmet mushroom farmer.

First things first: All of my essays will remain free. Forever. That will not change.

I want the ideas to spread because local food, small farms, food access, and urban agriculture need better public conversation. But conversation is not enough.

Some people reading this are not just interested in the idea of local food. They are actively trying to build something in their community.

It could be a small farm, a school growing program, a food project, a community garden, a local food business, a market channel, or simply a better food system where they live.

That is what Local Food Builders is for.

It is a paid membership for people who want the practical layer of Growing Is Half the Battle: guides, templates, and other assets. It also includes the live Office Hours and working support for all people trying to move from “this matters” to “how do we actually make this work?”

No more theory, and not a pile of food-system buzzwords.

Instead, you will find actionable tools and working support for people in the trenches.

What All Members Get

All members will have access to all of the essays that I write for free. Forever

But, so you have a clear understanding of what I plan to provide:

  • New Essays and Techniques will be written at least 2x per month.

  • Small Farms, Real Systems: A monthly conversation with farmers, growers, educators, buyers, food-system builders, and others working through the real constraints behind local food. Recorded for all to view on demand.

What Paid Members Get

For $5 a month, or $50 per year, Paid members will get access to all of the practical tools I have built for small farms and local food systems.

That includes guides, templates, checklists, worksheets, and working notes focused on real problems: pricing, crop planning, markets, infrastructure, customer trust, food access, school programs, and the business side of making local food work.

Each month, I plan to add at least one new practical resource for members.

Here is what you get each month for less than the cost of a single latte coffee:

  • Once a Month: A new resource: a how-to article, a video walkthrough, a printable worksheet, or a workshop replay.

  • Once a Month: Office Hours: a live working session for paid members. Bring the thing you are stuck on, and we’ll work through the real problems behind small farms and local food systems together. Recorded for paid subscribers who can’t make it live.

  • Throughout the Year: Free access to seasonal sprints: short email series and challenges.

  • Plus the entire archive. Every paid resource I’ve ever published is available to you the moment you subscribe.

For $5 a month or $50 a year. There’s a 7-day free trial because I want you to actually look at the work before you commit to it.

Members of The Build Table

The Build Table is an intentionally limited small-group mastermind for people actively building something and wanting deeper support: a farm, food project, school program, community garden, local food business, food access effort, or local food system initiative.

This group will only have 8 spaces available.

This is because The Build Table is designed for real projects, not vague motivation. We will work through strategy, constraints, decisions, documents, next steps, and what needs to be tested next.

Members will gain access to the following:

  • Small-group mastermind - 6x per year: The Build Table will meet for 90 minutes as a deep work session for people actively building something: a farm, food project, school program, community garden, local food business, food access effort, or local food system initiative.

  • Ongoing shared work / async support: Members will gain access to a shared space to submit questions, updates, plans, documents, or stuck points between sessions for feedback and support.

  • Priority attention in Office Hours / future resources: Members of the Build Table can help shape the problems, templates, and tools that get developed next..

The Build Table is for people who want deeper support without hiring a private coach.

Who this is for

Local Food Builders is for people trying to make local food work in the real world.

Small farmers, urban growers, market gardeners, school garden leaders, food entrepreneurs, community organizers, food access workers, local food advocates, chefs, buyers, and people building programs, markets, or food-system infrastructure.

You do not need to have everything figured out, but you do need to care about moving from idea to action.
